Bonalba News Letter June 2023 By Sue Sparrow Brown

Spanish Stuff

Another major festival in April is the Moros and Cristianos held in Alcoy in the Provence of Alicante.

This festival commemorates the battle of Alcoy in 1275 when  Saint George assisted the defeat of the  Moorish hoards lead by Al Azzaq.

The Moors and Christians takes place between the third and fourth weeks in April, not an attempt to be historically accurate, its about having fun as the marvellous, noisy and colourful spectacle of the battle is reenacted with verve and energy by the local population.

The Alcoyans prepare well for this annual festival as some 30 armies are prepared to battle.

Club Events & Matches

Exciting stuff this month, we have the  champion of Champions competition to be held at Greenlands from the 9th -16th of April.

We were hoping to have a social night this month but with so much on and folks coming and going to the UK and further a field we haven’t been able to arrange anything as yet. However with pleasant balmy evenings again we will try and fix something for next month

Saves money, stops food going off.

Just make sure to pack in usable quantities,

Even helps with some posh cooking if you fancy some Sous Vide !! Google it!
